The meeting was called to order at 7 a.m. by KACP President, Steve Workman.
Reports from officers were given.
1st Vice-President Kevin Pages noted that no places were given for multi-media writing in on-line division and suggested that this should be reconsidered at fall retreat.
2nd Vice-President Bruce Clary reported that the 2003 Spring Awards Conference fees were low because the hotel cut prices in half because of the booking mistake. He warned that fees would no doubt be higher next year. He also reported that the same number, 192, had registered this year as did last year.
Thanks were given to Bruce for his great work on the conference.
Officers for the 2003-2005 term were elected. Steve Workman, Benedictine; Kevin Page, Benedictine, Dave Bostwick, Cowley; and Janet Hallford, Hutchinson, were all re-elected. Randy Brown, Wichita State, was elected 2nd Vice President.

Members in attendance agreed to have the fall retreat return to Lindsborg, with newly elected 2nd Vice-President Randy Brown, making arrangements and proposing a set of dates. The consensus was to bring editors again with the suggestion to provide a more formal program for them. Sally Turner will help with this.

Comments were made about checking on-line directory information and perhaps sending out postcards to remind KACP members to check the on-line site prior to upcoming events and deadlines in case some members donít get the e-mail message.
Jennifer Schwarts, Barton, suggested a KACP news service. Some discussion took place but the members could not reach an agreement as to its use and so further discussion will take place in the fall.
Ron Johnson reported on the situation at Fort Hays involving Linn Ann Huntington and both student publications. Ron will submit a letter to the proper Fort Hays personnel indicating KACPís support of Linn Ann. Members are encouraged to write personal notes of support to Linn Ann.
